Well, I’m back – sort of, kind of! I’ve experienced a lot in the past few months – all leading me to the realization that I don’t want to teach any more in the academic realm. I know all about the taboo in telling the world how much an employer is paying you. But, at this point, I DON’T CARE. Who made it taboo in the first place? Maybe, if we were all a little more honest with each other, we might be able to create necessary changes that we all need in order to live a life worth living. There comes a time when the love of doing something does not put food on the table, nor providing any personal fulfillment.

Anyway, I was speaking with a friend last evening and she tried to persuade me to stay in the teaching profession. She came from the time when teaching was revered. However, in this day and age, I am even beginning to lose respect for academics. Students are being allowed to take classes when they are only versed on cell phones or IPADS or IPODS. This makes it difficult to try and teach anything that isn’t related to technology. Administrators are demanding that we put in 5 days of student contact each week but are only paying us just over $100 per week per class. Even in the classroom environment, most classes are only held twice a week. Is anyone else feeling a little strange about these circumstances?

I think I’ll return to nature where there is no technology influence over any living being. I think I’ll return to my roots where only peace and love prevail and dogs roam the earth.
